Autumn fun and getting to know each other!

September in the Classroom has been very exciting for our new children; they have settled in well, explored and engages in a wide range of activities! This month we have been learning all about each other – we have provided the children with lots of opportunities to learn about and bond with their new friends and Aunties in the room. We have painted self-portraits, made playdough faces of each other, looked at pictures of our family and stuck them on our family tree, and we have had lots of circles times with Wilbur the dog to discuss our favourite things.

Following on from the interests of the children, we have also introduced an exciting building site role play area for everyone to construct and engage in imaginative play. Meanwhile, our girls have been talking about fairies so we have set up lots of fairy-related activities; Superheroes have been a big hit with the boys this month as well. Everybody has been bonding over their common interests and forming friendships. We can’t wait to continue planning around the children’s interests and seeing how they change and grow this next year!

The weather has gotten colder and we have been learning all about the topic of ‘Autumn’ – we have made beautiful artwork using the natural objects found in and around our garden. The children talk about the weather each morning and afternoon, and we observe the changes we can see. Everyone has been especially excited about jumping on crunchy leaves, and finding insects in the garden.

October will see us exploring storytelling, fairy tales and the children have already been talking about trick or treating and their Halloween costumes!
