Marvelous March!

The children were fascinated by our ice‑painting activity. As the colourful ice blocks melted, they discovered new textures and patterns, sparking conversations about temperature, colour mixing, and how materials change.

This month, the children enjoyed exploring our daffodil themed playdough, inspired by the bright spring flowers blooming outdoors. With its soft yellow colour, the playdough invited the children to roll, pinch, cut, and shape their own daffodil creations. This activity supported fine motor development while encouraging creativity and imaginative play. The children loved using tools and cookie cutters, turning simple dough into beautiful springtime masterpieces.They explored shape and colour while celebrating the bright flowers appearing outdoors.

Water play has been a huge source of joy and discovery for the children this month. Whether pouring, scooping, splashing, or experimenting with floating and sinking, the children have been fully engaged in hands‑on learning. These activities support early maths and science skills as they explore volume, movement, and cause‑and‑effect, all while strengthening fine motor control. Most importantly, water play has encouraged teamwork, turn‑taking, and lots of laughter. It’s been a refreshing way to learn, explore, and have fun together.

The children have loved getting their hands busy in the soil as we began planting our sunflower, pea, and sweetcorn seeds. This activity sparked wonderful conversations about how plants grow, what they need to stay healthy, and how we can care for living things. The children carefully filled their pots, tucked in their seeds, before placing them in a sunny spot. We’ll be checking on our seedlings regularly and watching with excitement as they begin to sprout — a lovely way to learn patience, responsibility, and the magic of nature.
