June fun!

This month, we had a fantastic time celebrating the World Cup and exploring the many different cultures from around the world through a range of exciting, hands-on activities.

The children enjoyed designing and creating their own unique World Cup-inspired T-shirts using mark-making techniques with crayons and paper. This creative activity encouraged self-expression, fine motor development, and an opportunity to talk about colours, patterns, flags, and countries from around the world.

Our outdoor learning continued with a wonderful pretend picnic in the garden. Using playdough to create a variety of foods, the children engaged in imaginative role play, developing their communication skills, social interactions, and creativity as they shared their picnic with friends.

The children also spent time exploring the chalk and water area, where they experimented with emptying and filling containers of different sizes. They showed great curiosity as they investigated capacity, volume, and cause-and-effect through play. To extend their exploration, we added ice and coloured water, creating exciting visual effects and new textures for the children to discover. This sensory experience encouraged scientific thinking, observation skills, and descriptive language as they discussed the changes they could see and feel.

Construction play was another highlight of the week, with the children using magnetic blocks to build a variety of structures and designs. They worked collaboratively to solve problems, test ideas, and develop their understanding of shape, balance, and spatial awareness. Their impressive creations demonstrated excellent teamwork, perseverance, and imaginative thinking.
