January in the Classroom!
This month we have welcomed our children back after the Christmas holidays, and they have been very excited to share with their friends what they got for Christmas! We have engaged in lots of circle times, practised our turn-taking and our listening skills.
We have welcomed some new children to our room – some brand new friends who have joined nursery, and our toddler friends who have turned 3 and are ready to come and play! Our older children have been so good at including everybody in their play, and a few of our smaller themes this month have been ‘friendship’ and ‘kindness.’ Children have built friendships, engaged in play together, and we have been reading and singing with our baby and toddler friends this month to learn more about each other!
The children have been interacting with the weather board every morning and afternoon, and it has been very exciting changing the weather stones and temperature arrow as we have had so many opportunities to do so! We have been learning about Winter as a season, and the children have been excited to explore sunshine, frost, rain, and even snow this month! We have given our children the opportunity to spend as much time as they want outdoors, and we have all been getting lots of fresh air together – this month we have even started taking part in our daily mile and children and aunties run or walk round the school track together.
A new interest this month for the children has been “space” and so we have explored some exciting space-themed activities together. We have also been brave and tried some new textures together! We can’t wait for February, the children are excited to explore ‘Superworm’ as their story of the month, and we will be getting stuck in to so many more messy activities.
