October in the Classroom!
October in the Classroom has been a very fun, messy month for both children and aunties! We have enjoyed trying new things and exploring new textures hands-on using our senses. Gloop was a very popular activity this month, and the children had lots of fun role-playing ice cream shops. They practised their motor skills scooping and pinching and pulls me the gloop, and built friendships engaging in play with others.
Now we have learnt all about each other in September, the children have been building friendships based on their common interests. Superheroes has been a keen interest this month and the children have been having lots of fun running and jumping around the garden role-playing as their favourite superheroes. We have had lots of fun exploring all of the resources in the home corner, enjoying hosting picnics, dressing up for parties, and den building has been very popular amongst all children this month!
Alongside exploring their interests, the children have been excitedly telling us all about Halloween and their costumes for trick or treating! As a result we have been having lots of fun exploring spooky activities with pumpkins and witches and potions. We have enjoyed storytelling and made up our own spooky stories. We have also enjoyed our story of the month, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This has helped us learn and use our mathematical language in relation to different sizes.
We have enjoyed a lovely pink-themed week full of lots of sensory, slimy, squishy pink activities to raise money for charity. Everybody looked so lovely in their pink outfits!
The children have been very excited to see the seasonal changes outside; we have been learning about Autumn, noticing how dark it is getting and talking about the weather every morning and afternoon register. We’ve noticed it getting frosty and wet, watched leaves falling off the trees, and we’ve found some mini beasts in the garden!
November will see us exploring the children’s interests further. We hope to enjoy firework activities together and can’t wait to see how the children celebrate bonfire night. We’ll also be talking about safety and taking risks together.
