What we’ve been doing this month!

We have been showing lots of interest in dinosaurs this month. We began by developing our turn taking skills and playing together in small groups, we then developed it further by adding paint for the dinosaurs to walk through, talking about the different colours and patterns we had made. We also put some dinosaurs in water and placed them in the freezer overnight, we used pipettes and warm water to try and rescue the dinosaurs. This was a great way to practice our fine motor skills and develop our imagination.

Some of the children went on an outing to the fruit and vegetable shop with the toddlers. They listened to all the different sounds they could hear and pointed out what they could see on the way to and from nursery. When in the shop they picked out some different fruits to take back to nursery to share with their friends. This gave us the opportunity to develop our independence and try new fruits such as kiwi and plums.

The children have been using their own imaginations to create their own puppet shows to tell to their friends in the hive. This activity continued in their own play inside, creating different voices for the animals.

Writing and mark making has been a big interest this month. We have been practicing making letter type shapes and adding meanings to marks. We have been using different pens, pencils and crayons to make marks with, talking about how the different textures feel on the paper.
