May fun!

The children have had a wonderful time exploring a variety of mark-making resources and using their imaginations during creative play. They showed great enthusiasm when they decided to transform a large cardboard box into a bus, working together to develop their ideas and bring their creation to life.

There has also been lots of interest in sharing books together. The children enjoyed looking closely at the pictures, talking about what they could see, and making connections to their own experiences. They confidently recalled past events, including holidays and trips to the airport, leading to lots of meaningful conversations with both adults and their friends.

Water play has been a firm favourite this week. The children loved creating bubbles using whisks and enjoyed blowing and popping them whilst singing familiar nursery rhymes together. This provided plenty of opportunities for sensory exploration, communication, and lots of laughter.

We also enjoyed making homemade orange juice by squeezing fresh oranges into water and mixing it together. The children explored the different tastes, textures, and smells, using descriptive language to talk about what they noticed.

Another popular activity was making pink scented playdough. The children had lots of fun squashing, rolling, and moulding the dough, using it to make cakes and treats for a pretend tea party. In the home corner, they showed lots of care and kindness whilst looking after the babies, engaging in some lovely role-play scenarios and developing their imaginative play skills.

It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence, sharing ideas with one another, and exploring activities with such curiosity and enjoyment.
