November in the Toddler Room!
This month we have been focusing on strengthening our fine and gross motor muscles, hand eye coordination and learning our colours. We have followed the children’s interests and explored lots of messy activities in the process. We have enjoyed selecting our colours and using lots of different ways to explore the paint such as using thin/thick brushes, our hands/ feet and our fingers. Doing this will strengthen the muscles that we need to write letters in the future !
We also showed an interest in shapes in our environment, using the magnets to dip them into the paint, creating different prints and patterns. We talked about the marks we made using lots of interesting vocabulary such as ‘ginormous’ ‘tiny’ ‘round’ ‘flat’.
We also went on a Pom Pom rescue, saving the colourful pom poms from the cold water. We used tweezers to catch them and then transfer to different containers to show our friends. We then used number language to count how many we had. This activity was a great way to improve our hand eye coordination and again strengthen our muscles all whilst having fun.
