May in the Toddler room!

This month we have enjoyed talking part in lots of exciting activities

We have explored the foamy blue water tray, filling and emptying lots of different sized containers. We attempted to separate the foam from the water, showing an interest in categorising. We also experimented with lots of objects we found in the garden, placing them in the water to see if they float or sink.

We enjoyed accessing the mud kitchen and nature area. We used our senses to explore the area, feeling different textures, hearing new sounds and looking for bugs. In the mud kitchen we decided to make mud cakes. We then used the microwave to ‘cook’ our cakes, using number language to talk about how long it would take. We found lots of flowers. we talked about the smell, the feel and the colours too.

We made our own marble run in the garden, we worked as a team to move the beams into the position we wanted them to be. We then looked around the garden and found some hoops, we then used these as our ‘marbles’.

Lastly, we enjoyed categorising/sorting a variety of stones into groups. We talked about the texture and ridges. We used number language to count them too.
