Fabulous Febuary

This month has been full of hands‑on learning, celebration, and lots of curiosity. We began February by celebrating Pancake Day, where the children had the chance to make their own pancakes from scratch. They explored measuring ingredients, noticing how quantities change, and practised mixing everything together with real purpose. It was a lovely opportunity to build early maths and motor skills in a fun, meaningful way.

We also spent time thinking about the people we love and what makes our relationships special. The children shared stories about family and friends, and they each created a card to express their feelings. This encouraged them to use language to talk about emotions and helped them develop confidence in sharing their thoughts.

To mark the Lunar New Year, the children explored red rice and used it for sensory play, scooping, pouring, and noticing the vibrant colour. We talked about how people around the world celebrate this festival, introducing ideas about traditions, culture, and community.

Throughout the month, we continued to focus on letter recognition, exploring the shapes and sounds of different letters through games, stories, and playful activities. The children enjoyed spotting familiar letters in their names and in the environment, helping to build early literacy skills in a natural and engaging way.
